RDT has been supportive to the poor and needy in Thiruporur Block Kanchipuram district. Many people in need come and share their problems and get counseling to regain their strength to live there after. This is the biography of Mrs. Jothi, a 27 years’ old widow who is in poor condition to survive with her children.

Mrs.Jothi, wife of Mr.Sagathevan is from Kudagu District, Karnataka. She belongs to the most backward community. She lost her father when she was 17 years’ old. She has just completed sixth standard. She was taken care of her mother after her death of the father. She married a man namely Mr.Sagathevan from Kattur, Thiruporur Block, Kanchipuram district 11 years ago. Mr.Sgathevan went to Karnataka in search of daily wage and got in contact with Mrs.Jothi. It was a self selected marriage. It was the second marriage for him which was not revealed to Mrs.Jothi. She lived with him and brought forth four children. Unfortunately all were girl children. The first, second, third and the fourth is 9 years’, 7 years, 6 years’ and 8 months’ old respectively.

It was a great shock to Mrs.Jothi that she lost her husband 2 months ago. The husband was permanently an alcoholic and she was exposed to domestic violence every now and then. After his death, she is in very pathetic condition. Her mother in law does not support her. Her mother is living in another state that is also above fifty. Her only brother does not help since he has family. She lives in a house which is not in a good condition. There are leakages when there is rain. Since she lived in TamilNadu and Karnataka she did not own the ration card. She has no supporting evidences to live hands to mouth. She has nobody to support to manage her daily livelihood.

She was brought to RDT through the guidance of Mrs.Lalitha Parthasarathy who is the president of Johnsirani self help group on 26th November 2011. RDT listened to her issues and contemplated for a while to support her. The help which we provide must indicate a way to become self reliant. RDT has planned its activities through many ways. She will be assisted to get ration card, community certificate. Widow certificate, two girl children certificate, voter identity card, Widow Pension and so on. Meanwhile she must be supported for the education of her children. If the child who is 8 months’ old grows she would go for a job. Later she could be made as member in one of the self help groups.

At present she is supported by her mother who lives with meager income. She is supported rarely by the neighbors. At present she is in very critical situation. If their children are given educational assistance they would have a meaningful life in future. RDT is in constant touch with her since her house is 8 kilo meters away from the office.

RDT requests your support through kinds. If anybody supports through offering self income generating activities for Mrs.Jothi or assisting their children’s education or medical expenses or supply of food could contact the organization for further details.

If you need any details pertaining to her RDT is ready to provide without any delay. It is laudable that you can help her in person.

Thanking you in anticipation

Truly Yours’
